Time zones
Russia is the largest country in the world. Its territory is more than 17 million square kilometers. There are nine time zones in Russia. When it is morning in the West of Russia, it is evening in the East. When it is day time in the East of Russia, it is night in the West.
Look at the map. Kaliningrad is in the West of Russia. It is seven o’clock in the morning. The children are still asleep or getting up. In Moscow and St Petersburg it’s eight o’clock. The children are going to school. It’s eleven o’clock in Omsk and Novosibirsk, and it’s twelve o’clock in Kemerovo and Krasnoyarsk. The children at school are having lunch. In Vladivostok and Khabarovsk it’s three o’clock in the afternoon. The children are going home.
It’s four o’clock in the afternoon in Magadan. The children are doing their homework.
